You wouldn’t believe it if I told you, but (shh…)

Summer is almost over.

AH! Did that scare anyone else too?

Not to fear - we have a full month left until Labor Day to soak up the summer sun before schools resume, fall weather hits the air and familiar routines of September fall back into schedules.

To make the most of the most of these last 30 days, we’ve gathered some of the best days in August to bring together your residents and keep the summer vibes going at your community.

And as always, be sure to check out our full calendar of resident event ideas in the link below - and check back each month, as we post new ideas and full calendars throughout the year!

August 3: International Beer Day

Sure seems like a great opportunity for a social gathering at the property, wouldn’t you say? Reserve an amenity space at the property this Friday and host a “beers from around the world” gathering, grabbing some local (and non-local) brews from your local grocery store. Or if you’re looking to cut costs, encourage residents to bring a six-pack of their favorite beer to swap and share stories with fellow residents.

August 5: Friendship Day

With fall right around the corner, and new residents streaming in following summer terms away at school or traveling, use this year’s Friendship Day to present a fun-themed resident referral bonus for community members to earn extra money back for recruiting their friends to the property.

August 12: Perseids Meteor Shower

According to NASA meteor expert Bill Cooke, the Perseids are perhaps the most popular meteor shower of the year; and this year, they'll be the best shower of the year. The meteor shower's peak will be visible both the nights of Aug. 11 and 12, so for those properties with a nice view of the night sky via rooftop or outdoor area, encourage residents to gather together to enjoy this year’s spectacular show in the sky.

August 17: National Nonprofit Day

Renowned speaker Sherita J. Herring founded National Nonprofit Day as a way to encourage people to learn about and become involved with nonprofits.

This August 17, use the day as another opportunity to share information on local charities or invite a nearby nonprofit to come to the community to discuss ways residents can get involved this year with a cause near and dear to their hearts.

August 24: National Waffle Day

While the nation might be split on if they prefer pancakes, not many can turn down a nicely-sized waffle with syrup drizzled on top.

Spring for an affordable waffle maker ($10-20, depending on the store) and treat residents to a sweet treat on their way out the door that Friday morning.

August 26: National Dog Day

Sure, it might seem like there are countless pet-related holidays during the calendar year… But far be it from us to turn down the opportunity to celebrate our lovable pups!

Invite residents to post pictures of their dogs via the bulletin board on your custom mobile app, or ask for submissions for a pet of the month honor. Alternatively, contact one of your local dog shelters to have a volunteer(s) come to the property for an all-day Adopt-A-Thon.
