What a week it was.
Last week, the Mobile Doorman team left their respective offices to hit the road for the inaugural takeoff of #MDTravels - a cross-country “mobilization” of our Mobile Doorman team, where we had the chance to meet with clients and enjoy the beauty of some of America’s greatest cities.
To recap last week’s travels, we’ll be catching up with members of the Mobile Doorman team all month-long to hear about their experiences and dig into some of the best moments of their travels while meeting with clients.
For this week’s feature, we sit down with Walt Phelps to hear about his experience in the picturesque city of Denver, and some of his best moments from the week that was.
Why did you choose to visit Denver?
Thanks to its beautiful weather and scenic views, Denver is currently one of the fastest-growing multifamily hubs in America. With its apartment construction far-outpacing the national average, Denver was a perfect choice for my inaugural #MDTravels destination.
Additionally, one of our key partners, Greystar, also has offices in Denver. One of Greystar’s marketing directors, Melissa Robbins, sits in their Denver office, so I saw it as a great opportunity to catch up with her, while also having the chance to see a few other partners during my visit.
That being said, this was by no means my first trip to Denver. Funnily enough, I visited Denver for the first time after college while on my way to my eventual first home out of school on the west coast. While driving through, I decided to stop for a short stay in the city to see what all the hype was about. The short stint quickly stretched into a week-long+ stay once I found how nice it was in the mountains- it almost made me relocate there permanently on the spot!
You mentioned you met with Melissa Robbins of Greystar, who else did you visit while in town?
Throughout my time in the city, I was lucky enough to catch up with lots of friends & clients at their offices. During my first day in Denver, I sat down with Don Caster of Sagebrush for a productive meeting to discuss how we could help foster a digital connection with their residents.
The following day, I caught up with Joanna Pulido at RedPeak Properties, and visited the Greystar Denver offices. This is where I met with Melissa and her colleagues, Laren Ware and Michelle Violano, to talk about our companies’ growing relationship.
What type of feedback did you receive during your meetings?
What seemed to strike a chord was Mobile Doorman’s ability to integrate with all the major property management system platforms. Multiple individuals alluded to experiences with past vendor partners who claimed to integrate seamlessly with a property’s current backend systems, when in actuality, they found themselves with plenty of bumps & bruises during the integration process.
Most of all, I was greeted with overwhelmingly positive feedback on how Mobile Doorman is able to aggregate all of the day-to-day needs for resident apartment management into one place on their phones.
What were some of your favorite spots around town?
Like I said, Denver is a GREAT town to visit - so much to do. After wrapping up my meeting at Sagebrush, I had the chance to explore downtown and topped off the first night in Denver with an awesome dinner at Blue Sushi and Sake.
Better yet, to capitalize on the wonderful weather and a productive day full of meetings with partners on my second day in town, I headed out to Boulder to hike to the top of the Mount Satinas Trail, followed by a wonderful dinner at Salt in downtown Boulder. Needless to say, it was a FULL day.
What were your favorite memories from the trip?
My favorite memories were simply meeting new people and catching up with current partners. At Mobile Doorman, we’re lucky enough to work with some of most driven and forward-thinking clients in the industry who are looking to improve their communication with residents.
Having the chance to sit down and talk through some of the issues properties are experiencing with reaching residents was invaluable. Discussing feedback from current partners left me with wonderful takeaways from my time in Denver. I can’t wait to be back to catch up with everyone again soon.
If you could sum up the trip in one sentence, what would it be?
Denver has everything: great people, lots of new development, beautiful scenery, and amazing restaurants!
Be on the lookout next week as we feature another memorable trip from Mobile Doorman’s inaugural #MDTravels week!
