Download our full April 2018 Event Calendar for more resident event inspiration
The not-so-flattering end of the “May flowers” adage, April often sees itself as the more rain-soaked cousin of the blooming spring season.
Well we’re here to help you and your property change that.
In this month’s version of resident event ideas, we dive in to the best parts of April - excluding some of the more obvious holidays (April Fool’s Day, Tax Day, etcetc.) - to brighten the unfairly maligned April by celebrating the most enjoyable days of the month.
And, as always, be sure to check out our full calendar of resident event ideas in the link below - and check back each month, as we post new ideas and full calendars throughout the year.
April 7 - National Beer Day
The holidays at the tail end of December may be hyped up as the most wonderful time of the year, but National Beer Day might be making a play at a close second for one of the jolliest days on the calendar.
Celebrate in style with residents by reaching out to a local brewery to host a lobby event for residents as a way to test out some of their latest brews, or plan a small happy hour on Friday to get residents ready for the following day’s sudsy holiday.
April 12 - National Grilled Cheese Day
Is there anything better than the combination of butter, bread and cheese? If yes, April 12th might want to have a word with you.
For this year’s National Grilled Cheese Day, create the ultimate sandwich bar for residents to celebrate one of the cheesier of holidays on the books, complete with bread, a variety of cheeses and ingredients such as peppers, bacon and avocado to spice things up a bit.

April 16 - Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day
Every year, National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day falls on the day after taxes are due in the United States. It’s time to let go of the stress from collecting & filing paperwork by donning your best set of pj’s to work.
That said, what about those of us whose offices are their homes? In fact, a Gallup pole last year found that roughly 43% of Americans said they worked remotely at least some of the time. With all this in mind, it’s fair to say there might be more than a few people taking April 16 from the comfort of their couch and - potentially - their PJ’s.
This year, reward the power of the pajama by setting up a simple breakfast bar in the lobby for those choosing to work from home that day. Only catch? Gotta be in some type of PJ’s to access - it’s National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day for a reason!
April 22 - World Earth Day
Looking for ways for your community to give back on World Earth Day this year? Contact your local parks department offices early this month to see if there are any city-wide initiatives that are in need of volunteers.
Another option is to visit https://www.earthday.org/, where you can find bountiful resources for individuals or groups looking to get involved this year. Or use your building’s apartment app to post on the virtual bulletin board, asking residents to provide ideas and vote on how they’d like to collectively give back in 2018.
April 26 - Take Your Son or Daughter to Work Day
For most of us, Take Your Kid to Work Day was easily one of the best days of the year when growing up. Skipping out of school, seeing Mom and Dad’s jobs up-close and personal, and - more than likely - creating havoc across the entire office.
For your building’s youngest working commuters that morning, set up a to-go breakfast station for families heading out to the office that day. Nothing spruces up an unexpected drive-time traffic jam for a son or daughter on their way to the office with Mom & Dad than a parfait or bagel. Besides, they’ll need the energy if they’re taking over their parents paperwork for the day. (That’s how it works, right?)
